Window Dressing: Tulips

This quilt was started by Pat Resor's great grandmother, Olive Bennett Hennes, who died in 1949. Olive hand-appliqued and embroidered the tulip blocks - nearly 100 in number! The squares were pulled out and worked on three or four times over the years, resulting in a 45 block quilt top that was then hand-quilted. Pat's cousin's wife became the "keeper of the squares," and Pat brought the original quilt to The Quilting Bee for binding. Pat has since assembled the remaining 36 blocks into this beautiful quilt, paying great attention to detail by coordinating the border fabric to the embroidery on each tulip. The quilt will be on display in our window until Thursday, October 15.
