Learn to Quilt II



In this class, you will build your piecing and cutting skills and learn new, more challenging techniques. You will be introduced to quarter-square triangles, applique, sashing, and cornerstones.  

At the end of this course, you will have a gorgeous 39" x 54” wallhanging, and you will have learned more techniques to add to your tool kit.

You will use our BERNINA 475 QE sewing machines in class.

Beverages will be provided. Any beverages brought for use while sewing should be in a lidded container.

This is the project you will complete over the course of this six-session class.
You will select your own fabrics for the project (included in the price of the class) in-store on the first day of class.



Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: This class is appropriate for advanced beginners. Participants shold have completed Learn to Quilt I or have comparable skills, which includes completion of a basic quilt: experience sewing on a machine; be able to use a rotary cutter and ruler on a cutting mat to cut simple shapes; be comfortable sewing straight seams and following seam allowances; be able to pin multiple layers together; be able to press seams as instructed; be able to sew through thick layers of fabric; simple machine quilting, and binding. Materials Included: Price includes all required fabric, thread, and batting. Please see the class supply list for additional materials required.
Requirements: Class supply list: Rotary Cutter; Cutting Mat; 6in x 24in Ruler; Seam Ripper; Flower Head Pins; Marking Pen; Scissors. If you do not own these tools, all are available for purchase at The Quilting Bee. Please bring a notebook and pen.

Instructor Bio: Sue Valletta's lifelong love of quilting dates back to right after college when she took her first class. She enjoys the entire process of quilting from pattern and fabric selection to cutting, sewing, quilting, and binding. She is the founder of the S & B Group, in existence since 1991. Sue donates time to a blanket ministry at a local church, and is a "finisher" for the national group Loose Ends. * * * * * * * Kris Witt learned to sew as a child and enjoyed sewing her own clothing, as well as her child's Halloween costumes and home deco items for many years. She began quilting when she joined The Quilting Bee in 2019, and has added bags to her repertoire in the past couple of years. Kris applies her years of training in the corporate world to her sewing classes, focusing on the experience and success of each learner.
